CONGRATS! I’m moving to a more walkable city next year and i can’t wait to do the same :’) I bet it feels amazing not having to care for a car - what a huge money save too!
Oh my gosh, i love that SO MUCH! That sounds like a blast! Are you swimming laps or is it like water aerobics? Good for you - i bet it’s a cool way to meet people too :-)
I loved this and you articulate why these seemingly little things are making such an impact. Similar to you, I've stopped wearing my headphones during my walk to the train station and my commute. I use that time now to reconnect with my neighborhood and with it being Spring, it has been such a joy to hear the birds starting to sing again. I literally stop to smell the flowers and cherry blossoms!
I also bought a CD player to reconnect more with my music and am making the switch from Spotify to Apple Music. It's only been a few days, but I've noticed that I'm more present and more patient! I'm letting myself enjoy the album from start to finish. I'm curious--if you deleted your Spotify, how are you listening to music?
I've removed Instagram from my phone so I can only go on it if I'm on my computer (I do social media for a living and NEED there to be a boundary so I'm not on it 24/7) but you make a great point with Insta stories. They used to be the only reason I went on the app for the past few years but it's really not worth it. Thank you, thank you for this post!
Selling my car and taking public transport. Yesterday made one year with that decision. :)

Thank you! That’s so exciting, congratulations to the move! It’s such a weight loss. Immediate money saver, it also humanizes my life so much more :D
I started a swimcourse to improve my skills and i love it! I’m not top of the class but i never could imagine loving swimming so
Much . It gives me so much energy and i’m so proud of myself : )

No it’s really like professional swimming 🙃
Great suggestions! Love the name of the newsletter too.
Thank you so much for reading, Shawna! Means a lot!
Wow I did a serious side-eye at “Bobby” Approved for a minute there, thinking that was a MAHA reference. 😬😬 lol. Glad to see it’s not!
Oh absolutely not - you won’t find any of that here!
we have the same
birthday and i relate to sooo much of this, so that’s pretty cool
Reading your substacks 📈
gardening and watching plants grow from seed every day
Love all of these--particularly the one about cancelling all the vacuous screen time!
