Wonderful recommendations! Have you read Sheets by Brenna Thummler? It’s a coming-of-age story following a young girl who takes cares of her family’s laundry business. Wonderful illustrations and story, I highly recommend!

Ok, I’m back.

Great post, and I’m looking forward to exploring some of these titles.

Your point about “low commitment…high achievement” is actually super smart - I’d never really thought of it like that. Getting bogged-down in a book that ‘just won’t end’ can be very discouraging, so graphic novels are a really great choice.

My daughter and I enjoy the Hilda series - the original ones, illustrated by Luke Pearson (not the Netflix produced ones - although we like those too!)

My introduction into graphic novels was later in life, starting with Anya’s Ghost.
